Carnation Chabaud ‘La France’

Dianthus caryophyllus

Beautifully fragranced Carnation Chabaud ‘La France’ comes in softest ballet pink shades and is the strongest scented of all the carnations from our trials.

Absolutely exquisite teamed with *New China Aster ‘Chamois’.

Unlike garden ‘pinks’ Carnation Chabaud ‘La France’ has much taller stems making them brilliant for floristry. They add fragrance to arrangements after the Roses and Sweetpeas have finished.

Carnation Carnation ‘La France’ is actually a perennial, but I find it is much better grown as an annual, from an early Spring sowing.

Its a beautiful garden plant, flowers glow in the early evening.

How to grow:
Start seeds in early in Spring and plant out after the risk of frost has passed.  Flowers can be top heavy so provide support for nice straight stems. For more detailed growing instructions join our ‘Grow Along’ on Instagram

Excellent vase life of 10-14 days if picked as soon as the flowers start to open, straight into ready buckets of water. We rest our stems for a few hours in water, this is called conditioning.
